We appreciate our developers in Platform of Trust and want them to be motivated, learn new skills, see the platform development from different angles and be creative. Once in the planning increment, we'll rise up 1-2 of our developers as recognition of great work.
Developers who build all for the customers are always in the shadows and in the background. They are too rarely noticed. We want to change that and from now on during each SAFe driven increment planning, we will raise up 1-2 of our developers as recognition of great work. The job is never easy since a lot of the developers really shine and perform due to the clear method provided by SAFe and high motivation. More about how we motivate our developers can be found from the bottom of this article.
Criteria to be selected are not carved in stone, but here are a few: the developer has grown professionally by learning new skills which benefit the overall platform development, shown remarkable enthusiasm in the current role, creatively increased platform’s business value, has shown concrete steps in adopting the principles of SAFe process, has acted as a bridge-builder between teams and enabled fluent communication and efficiency.
During the third increment 2020 two persons raised above all. This time we celebrate Roman and Hoan.
Roman is the technical architect and product owner of Platform of Trust ontology. He is also responsible for the Connector Engine’s ontology process.
During this increment, in addition to other important tasks, Roman took a huge responsibility on the company’s beloved problem child, Data Product Spec. His visionary view on technology and pragmatic hands-on attitude on programming made possible the birth of version 0.1. It was not easy labor! That spec had been kicked around the Platform of Trust for more than a year before it was finally delivered. Of course, the team of skillful handmaids helped but it could not have been possible without Roman.

The Connector engine connects any API driven data source system to Platform of Trust. Hoan is one of the latest additions to Platform of Trust development team and is responsible for the Connector Engine daily operations. Success is this role requires thorough understanding of good project management, development skills as well as devops knowledge. Position also requires customer requirement analysis and development communication skills.
During the last increment Hoan did (among other things) a marvelous job in creating analytics solution which enables us to track duration of connector development phases and identify bottlenecks in the process. With help of this tool we can verify fulfillment of our value proposition: 7 days is enough for integration.

Thus we do not force our developers to make lifelong decisions to take a red or blue pill like in Matrix. In the old thinking, if you start as a backend developer, that is what you do.
